Hub New Music’s electroacoustic program, Mirage, uses Daniel Wohl’s UFO-inspired work of the same title as a point of departure. When Hub developed this piece with Daniel, he posed the question “Are UFOs just products of our imagination, projections of our hopes, or something truly alien?” Wohl’s piece uses a bit of sci-fi fun to look at something more existential, and it prompted us to create a program of pieces that also explore this duality. Works by Nina C. Young, Angélica Negrón, and Dai Wei juxtapose the playful with serious, austere with tender, and ominous with peaceful.

This program is also available as a double bill with Daniel Wohl joining Hub New Music on piano & electronics, performing specially made arrangements from his album “État.”
